Flashover
Simulator ST-1
(Stage 1)
The Flashover Simulator ST-1 module (Stage 1) focuses on Flashover development observation. Trainees learn to recognize the signs of a pending Flashover event more quickly, providing critical skills for a real fire ground.
The unit consists of a 20′ observation area, plus an elevated 10′ burn chamber. This creates a “safe zone” for trainees to observe rollover conditions from the lower safe zone area.
The system consists of the following main components:
- 10-ft Burn Chamber
- 20-ft Observation Area (“safe zone”)
- High Temperature 2000° Insulation System
- Staircase & Platform (for fuel loading)
- Trainee benches
- Ventilation hatch
- Man Door (non-latching)
In addition to observing rollover flames (i.e., predecessor to a Flashover event), trainees can effectively practice mitigation technique to delay and avoid Flashover phenomenon. This is all done in a controlled and repeatable environment.
The Flashover Trainer ST-1 (Stage 1) unit enables training in the recognition of rollover conditions, thermal layering, smoke reading, and more. It can be used for observation only or a hoseline can be brought into for practice in breaking up rollover conditions.
All Symtech Live Fire Simulators are designed in accordance with NFPA 1402, Standard on Facilities for Fire Training and Associated Props.
The system includes a two day instructor development course with (2) NFPA-certified instructors for up to 10 trainees. Full color operation and maintenance manuals, SOP’s and course outlines are provided.
Optional equipment and features include mobile trailer, temperature monitoring, low temp/high heat camera system, secondary roof hatch, and an elongated observation area.
