Gloucester County Fire Academy Levels Up with Advanced NFPA-Compliant Training Props
Berkeley Heights, NJ – Symtech Fire, a leader in live fire simulation technology, proudly announces the successful completion of an NFPA compliance upgrade project at the Gloucester County Fire Academy in New Jersey. This initiative brings the Academy’s outdoor and industrial live fire scenario into full compliance with the latest NFPA 1402 standards, improves reliability and safety, and introduces new state-of-the-art outdoor fire training scenarios.
Awarded through a competitive bid process, Symtech Fire was selected to provide all necessary labor, materials, and equipment for the outdoor fire training simulator upgrades and additions. The project, valued at $184,695, was completed on-time and within budget.
Key Enhancements Include:

- NFPA 1402 Compliance: All new installations and upgrades adhere strictly to the NFPA 1402 Standard on Facilities for Fire Training and Associated Props, ensuring the highest safety and operational standards.
- Advanced Outdoor Simulators: The Academy now features fully upgraded, cutting-edge outdoor fire simulators, including a 500-Gallon Propane Tank Fire Prop, Paint Locker Fire Prop, Christmas Tree (Industrial Pipe) Fire Prop, and Fork-Lift Fire Prop.
- New SUV Vehicle Fire Simulator: The addition of Symtech state-of-the-art SUV Vehicle Fire Scenario adds a new element to the training ground. It includes multiple fire scenarios, smoke, sound effects, extrication and cutting features, and much more.
- Enhanced Training Capabilities: The upgrades support a wide range of realistic training scenarios with improved safety in controlled environments.
The enhanced Outdoor and Industrial prop field expands training capacity for fire departments throughout Southern New Jersey, providing critical live fire training and vehicle extrication/rescue. The new simulators complement the Academy’s existing infrastructure, which includes a Class A burn building, aircraft trainer, and more.
