Symtech Fire Delivers Full Interior Gas Prop Replacement to Cape Fear Community College
Wilmington, NC – Cape Fear Community College has successfully completed a comprehensive upgrade of its fire training facility in partnership with Symtech Fire, a leading provider of live-fire training systems. The project represents a complete replacement of all structural gas-fired prop equipment, significantly enhancing the College’s ability to deliver realistic, scenario-based training to future firefighters and emergency responders.

The extensive scope of work included a full retrofit of the facility’s residential and commercial/maritime masonry buildings, bringing cutting-edge technology and expanded training capabilities to the campus. The upgraded facility now features advanced gas-fired props that simulate real-world fire behavior with unprecedented realism, allowing students to experience diverse emergency scenarios in a controlled, safe environment.
Key Upgrades Include:
- Stove Prop with Ceiling Rollover
- Interchangeable Twin Bed Prop with Ceiling Rollover
- Interchangeable XL Prop with Ceiling Rollover
- Search and Rescue Speakers
- Multiple 70,000 CFM Smoke Machines
The retrofit enhances both residential and commercial/maritime training scenarios, ensuring students gain experience across multiple firefighting disciplines. The integration of advanced rollover simulation technology provides critical learning opportunities for understanding fire behavior and developing appropriate tactical responses.
The interchangeable prop designs enable varied Residential, Maritime, and Industrial training all within the same environment and with one investment. Some of the unique interchangeable props include a marine engine fire prop, gas cylinder fire prop, hazmat drum storage fire prop, and twin bed fire prop.
