Pittsford, VT – Symtech is proud to support the Vermont Fire Academy with the addition of a ST LPG Tank Fire Training Prop, expanding the Academy’s ability to provide realistic, repeatable training for propane-related emergencies.
Designed to simulate common incidents involving liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) pressure vessels, the outdoor training prop allows instructors to conduct controlled, hands-on evolutions that prepare firefighters to recognize hazards, assess changing fire conditions, and practice effective suppression tactics. Propane emergencies present unique operational challenges, making realistic training an essential component of firefighter readiness.
The project includes a portable pilot igniter and control system paired with a 1,000-gallon ST LPG tank fire prop capable of delivering multiple training scenarios. The system supports vapor impingement and pressure relief valve (PRV) fire simulations while providing instructors with the flexibility to conduct repeatable training in a controlled environment. Installation, on-site setup, and operational training were completed as part of the project to ensure the Academy was prepared to begin training immediately.
Built for long-term durability and frequent use, the LPG Tank Fire Prop offers a dependable training solution that can support firefighters for years to come. The system utilizes environmentally friendly propane, wireless controls, and is designed to meet NFPA 1402 standards for live fire training facilities, helping departments conduct consistent, high-quality training while minimizing environmental impact.
